Distribution Technology Charge increase – ensuring you’re exempt
IAG have announced the Distribution Technology Charge (DTC) will increase for companies making bookings via a non-NDC channel on 31 May 2019. The DTC charge will increase from £9.00 to £10.50 per passenger per sector and applies to bookings ticketed on or after 31 May 2019 made directly via a GDS.
Lime’s NDC booking portal provides exemption
This charge will continue to have no effect on trade partners who book British Airways fares via Lime’s NDC (New Distribution Technology) enabled Flights system. Group flights do not incur this charge as fares are not delivered via NDC.
British Airways and Iberia introduced NDC technology to distribute fares types (excluding Groups) in 2018, which provides many benefits in merchandising flexibility and richer content.
We hope this assures you that Lime membership offers a solution to avoiding these charges, and ensures you get the most competitive fares with an approved leisure flights provider. We will continue to develop our systems to ensure you have the best booking experience.
Matt Darlington, Head of Commercial for Lime advises: “With NDC paving the way for new opportunities of product offering and distribution from IAG, Lime want to ensure that the UK travel trade has access to some of the best content for British Airways, as this technology continues to evolve”.
