British Airways is marking a major milestone at London City Airport, its silver anniversary of flying from the capital’s most central airport! Since 1999, British Airways has been connecting travellers to destinations across Europe.
British Airways first flight from London City took off on 5 November 1999, operated by its Manchester-based franchise partner British Regional Airlines. Since then, over 27 million passengers have flown with British Airways’ iconic livery to and from London City Airport.
Fast-forward to today, British Airways’ subsidiary BA Cityflyer operates from the airport, offering flights to 26 destinations across Europe, from quick business trips to Edinburgh to sunny getaways in Mykonos.
BA Cityflyer’s CEO, Tom Stoddart, said: “Not only is London City easily accessible from across the capital, but it’s a quick and seamless journey through the airport, from check-in to gate in 20 minutes. We’re proud to offer this experience to our customers, and reaching this quarter-century milestone is a testament to our team’s hard work in growing our operation over the years.”
