British Airways is ushering in a new era of loyalty rewards with the launch of The British Airways Club in April 2025. For the past 40 years, the Executive Club has been a cornerstone of rewarding frequent travellers. Now, as customer needs evolve, so does the program, offering enhanced ways to earn and unlock rewards.
What's changing?
- New name, fresh look: Welcome to The British Airways Club, designed to enhance customer experience.
- Earn tier points differently: Members will now earn Tier Points based on spend rather than distance flown.
- More ways to earn: Tier Points can be accumulated through flights, extras, British Airways Holidays packages, and even contributions to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
- Updated tier thresholds: The way members progress through the Tiers is being revamped.
Key changes effective 1 April 2025:
Members will earn Tier Points based on:
- Every £1 spent on eligible flights (base fare and carrier-imposed charges).
- Select extras, including prepaid seating and additional baggage.
- Contributions to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
- Total cost of British Airways Holidays packages, rather than just the flight portion.
- A spend-based offer on the British Airways American Express® Premium Plus Card.
Exceptions using distance-based accrual:
Certain booking categories will continue to earn Tier Points based on distance, including:
- BT and IT tickets (e.g., Agency Nets, Groups, Allocation).
- Tour operator fares.
- Flights marketed by other airlines (except Iberia and American Airlines).
Example of earning tier points:
- You spend £1,418 on a return flight.
- Your eligible spend is £1,120 (base fare and carrier-imposed charges).
- You earn 1,120 Tier Points towards your annual and Lifetime Tier Points balance.
This transformation ensures British Airways remains at the forefront of rewarding loyalty, making it easier than ever to earn and enjoy exclusive benefits.
